Western Air Ducts is a leading firm of industrial air quality consultants and engineers specialising in dust and fume extraction systems.
The company sought advice from SWMAS on where to gain funding to support the product development phase of ‘Intellair’, its unique energy efficient air control system designed to react directly to demand rather than being in constant operation.
SWMAS, through its Product Development Centre (PDC) project, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (2007-2013) Competitiveness Programme, provided Western Air Ducts with a grant towards developing the operational maintenance manual that accompanies the Intellair system.
This included both the graphic design and translation. Funding also facilitated the software development for the product’s user interface.
Flagship product reduces users’ energy costs by 40%+
Now developing an export strategy
Having launched Intellair to market in May, Western Air Ducts have received feedback from customers across a variety of sectors outlining average energy reduction to be in excess of 40 per cent after implementing the system.
The company is now developing an export strategy as it gears up towards showcasing the product at international trade shows and exhibitions, including one in the Middle East at the end of November.
Western Air Ducts is able to price Intellair competitively, safe in the knowledge that its energy efficiency will generate average cost savings that will mean the product has paid for itself within a couple of years.
