Pipex px® is a privately owned and family run manufacturer of construction products built from high quality, corrosion resistant thermoplastics and advanced composites.
The company approached SWMAS for support as it looked to implement a new management structure in order to sustain a period of continual growth.
Pipex px® already had a well established reputation for manufacturing high quality products, but recognised that some parts of the business needed fine tuning in order to increase efficiency and help sustain growth.
“We needed help in identifying areas where we could save time and increase efficiency in our production process. It also became clear as we grew that we needed to implement a new management structure to sustain our growth and future proof the business,” said Jon.
“We participated in a lean leadership programme led by SWMAS, which enabled us to identify and utilise the businesses’ strengths as well as avoid shortcomings."
“Working with our sales team, SWMAS quickly identified new markets where we could potentially generate leads including targeting the nuclear sector."
“SWMAS also helped us address efficiencies in our production process by evaluating the layout of the factory floor and taking us through a 5S factory simulation programme.”
Increased turnover from £9m-£15m in four years
Achieved ready to supply status through the Fit 4 Nuclear Assessment programme
“We now have a closer-knit and improved management structure in place to help us better manage the business."
“Targeting the nuclear sector was not something we’d considered but having the reassurance that SWMAS knew our business allowed us to tap into markets that we probably wouldn’t have before."
“We have also introduced a new way of working where dedicated teams at workstations focus on a specific aspect of the production process rather than following the flow of the product."
“We are now in a position to fully maximise our potential and are very optimistic about fulfilling our plans for future growth,” said Jon
