Permateek manufactures and supplies a range of innovative and environmentally friendly marine decking products.
After making the decision to upgrade to larger premises and move from sub-contracting to do its own production on site, the company contacted SWMAS for assistance with funding the expansion and advice on the day-to-day operations of running a factory.
SWMAS provided Permateek with a grant in support of tooling design and specialist consultancy for the new facility via its Product Development Centre (PDC) project, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (2007-2013) Competitiveness Programme.
Signposting to specialist providers that could assist Permateek with tooling design enabled the company to increase efficiency and manufacture more products.
As demand began to increase, Permateek decided to set up a second production line, which SMWAS assisted by providing further funding.
SWMAS also facilitated links into its knowledge base to assist the company with technical issues it was having with materials.
Turnover increased by 30%
Since bringing manufacturing in house, Permateek’s turnover has increased by 30 per cent and the company is exporting all over the world, from across Europe to North America and Australasia.
With a second production line in place, capacity has trebled and staff numbers have more than doubled. The product range continues to grow and Permateek is working on other projects with SWMAS.
