Special Focus: Net Zero Manufacturing
This quarter, we explore whether or not reaching 'net zero' carbon emissions is a priority for SME firms, and how the transition to net zero may affect the UK manufacturing sector.
What does this quarter's report reveal?
Although 42% see net zero as a positive for their firm, only 29% say it is a current priority:
37% have already pledged to achieve net zero, with almost three quarters of these businesses planning to reach this milestone by 2040:
Around half of responding businesses see net zero as a way to attract potential customers:

Many respondents see net zero as a positive, both for UK manufacturing and their own firm, but there are a number of barriers preventing their progression. With everything else that business leaders are currently juggling, many don't have the resource or capacity to prioritise net zero above other business issues.
