2020 for the Somerset Manufacturers Group gets off to a fantastic start with a visit to Taunton Fabrications on 28th January.
Join Taunton Fabrications as they open their doors to fellow Somerset manufacturers and share unique insight into their 25 year story and celebrate the completion of an additional new building. Taunton Fabrications will also invite you to put forward thoughts and ideas that could help inform their continued development plan.
Introducing Taunton Fabrications
Situated in Taunton, Somerset, Taunton Fabrications understand steelwork. It's an understanding they have developed over 25 years and means they work with some of the most recognised and innovative construction companies and architects to deliver a wide range of architectural and secondary metalwork to commercial and residential building projects.
Specialising in designing and manufacturing high quality architectural metalwork features including feature staircases, helical stairs, stainless steel balustrades, glass canopies, bridges and walkways, Taunton Fabrications is proud that the biggest asset is their highly skilled team of people. A culture of "continuous development" is encouraged throughout the business and everyone is involved at looking at what they do and how they can make it better. They also recognise a need for young people within the steel fabrication industry and regularly recruit apprentices.
Everyone in the company is encouraged to contribute and make suggestions, and we've learnt that lots of small improvements really can make a big difference. Our biggest asset is our workforce. The challenge
With the recent build of their additional facility, Taunton Fabrications is in an exciting new phase. To support them with the development of one of their strategic strands, during this visit they will ask Somerset manufacturers to help them consider how best to move to an electronic, real-time, quality control and job progress system.

About the Somerset Manufacturers Group
The Somerset Manufacturers Group (SMG) aims to provide opportunity for manufacturers across Somerset to collaborate and share best practice.
An inaugural meeting in Oct 2018 kick-started a calendar of site visits to a diverse range of manufacturers including Numatic International, TMB Patterns, and Coates English Willow; roundtables and workshops on themes such as managing poor performance, skills gaps and apprenticeships; and a focus on facilitating collaboration between members for the purposes of both operational and commercial benefit.
About Somerset Manufacturers Group membership
There is no obligation to become a 'Member' of the Somerset Manufacturers Group, and there is also no membership fee. Meetings and events are free to attend, are held roughly every six weeks, and open to all manufacturers with a base in Somerset.
