New drive to help businesses improve their productivity by 20%

Ambitious businesses have the chance to realise a minimum of a 20% increase in Productivity by 2020 by taking part in SWMAS’ new programme of support to be launched in the New Year.

The South West Manufacturing Advisory Service’s new productivity improvement programme follows the results of the Autumn 2017 Manufacturing Barometer survey. The quarterly survey left no doubt that UK manufacturers recognise the need to improve productivity within their businesses – respondents clearly identified optimising existing processes and improving existing employee effectiveness as priorities.

Productivity experts to deliver the programme

To help manufacturers address these needs the 2020 programme draws on SWMAS’ depth of experience in helping businesses become more effective and efficient. Participating companies have access to a range of business improvement support, some of which is fully funded, including:

  • expert productivity workshops
  • in-company productivity assessments
  • hands-on support to drive real improvements

SWMAS' team of experienced manufacturing specialists will help participating businesses identify, plan, and deliver practical measures that will improve productivity and efficiency. Typical areas that SWMAS support could focus on includes manufacturing processes, quality, on-time delivery, absenteeism, staff turnover, escalating costs, logistics and scheduling, effective use of available space, procurement, falling short of targets, bottlenecks or idle equipment. Manufacturers can expect a proactive programme that enables them to specifically address areas that affect them – it will not be a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Large manufacturing companies may also be interested in working with SWMAS' sister company, Exelin, a dynamic and inspirational business improvement and people development consultancy specialising in operational excellence and performance improvement through employee engagement.

Companies looking to secure additional space, move site, or utilise their space more profitably, may be interested in the support available through another Exelin Group company, Hinkley Basecamp.
