Downturn Readiness Review

Downturn Readiness ReviewThe majority of businesses feel the financial squeeze during a downturn, but manufacturing is sometimes slow to feel the effects. Whilst many businesses are already experiencing sharp decline, others are largely unaffected. We strongly advise businesses to act now to identify plans and actions BEFORE the pain starts. MAS has launched a new programme aimed at helping businesses cope with the potential downturn and build manufacturing strategies to maximise on emerging opportunities.

The Downturn Readiness Review (DRR)is tailored to businesses taking part, regardless of sector or size, and is aimed at ensuring they continue to grow in the face of an economic slowdown.

Downturn Readiness Review

STOP: Ask yourself ...
How realistic are your sales targets?
What are you doing to reduce your costs?
Have you reviewed plans for expansion and investment?
Can you finance your plans?
Is your team aligned and able to adapt?

If you have answered ‘not sure’ or ‘no’ to any of these questions then get in touch with a MAS specialist.

The Downturn Readiness Review looks at a business’ ability and plans to cope with challenges arising from a tightening of the economy. It covers a review of business performance and finances, market landscape, people and processes to develop company action plans.

It aims to help businesses read situations in terms of risk, exposure and opportunities and through a series of "what-if" projections and scenario planning, develop company action plans.

Refocus your business

Downturn Readiness ReviewWe took part in the Downturn Readiness Review (DRR) not because we were shedding business, in fact we are tremendously busy at the moment and recruiting to meet customer demand, but to ensure we keep the business we have and continually add value to our customers.

The DRR provided us with a wider perspective through a series of ‘what if’ scenarios in terms of our customer base, finances, plans, product line, market changes and internal structures. We also examined what our competitors were doing and how we could turn their financial problems to our advantage to pick up a larger slice of the market.

Dave Phelps, Director, Taunton Fabrications

Taunton Fabrications, an award-winning architectural and bespoke metalwork provider, took advantage of MAS’ Downturn Readiness Review (DRR). Although Taunton Fabrications had not been impacted by the downturn, with its client portfolio spanning housing, commercial property and general construction, it was keen to prepare the business for potential challenges on the horizon.
