Using new technology to become more lean

New Technology for a new future

Creeds The Printers are an established litho company in Dorest who were finding it difficult to compete in the short run, high quality end of the printing market.

By working with SWMAS to identify where their production shortfalls were and looking into new software and machinery Creeds have been able to greatly reduce turn around time, improve quality and develop a whole new customer base in a highly competitive area.

"SWMAS have been invaluable to Creeds over the past year, helping to identify production shortfalls and guiding us on our journey to Best Practice. They have also assisted us with embracing new technologies within the company, enabling us to provide the most flexible and Value for money service to our customers and continue to grow in a market that is becoming ever more competitive"

Combining lean techniques with established skills

Using traditional lean tools 5S’s and 7 wastes, Creeds worked with SWMAS to see that whilst their established UK wide litho printing business was turning over, they were losing out on the very lucrative short run-high quality end of the market.

Litho machines have a long set up time so SWMAS advised buying a digital printer, which has revolutionised their customer response and service. The quantity of Right First Time work has also increased with the introduction of automated proofing.

Quoting, another area where precious time was being lost has been completely transformed since new automated quoting software has been installed.

New machinery has not only led to a rapidly expanding customer base but has freed up their Litho machines leading to increasing opportunities in their established markets.
