Help create sustainable improvements to manufacturing industry in the South West.

The South West Manufacturing Advisory Service is one of ten regional centres of the national Manufacturing Advisory Service, created by the BERR (formerly DTI). Its primary aim is to assist manufacturing in the South West region by offering expert advice, guidance and practical ‘hands-on’ support to manufacturing businesses in order to improve their competitiveness and productivity.

As a result of the success of the organisation in achieving its objectives we are now looking to strengthen the network through the recruitment of Manufacturing Specialists in various locations in the South West.
Using Lean Thinking and your experience gained in a hands-on management role in manufacturing, you will work with our clients and partners by providing training and coaching to help them diagnose problems, identify improvements opportunities and deliver action plans to address business needs.
Amongst your activities will be the provision of project management and the evaluation of the effectiveness of your interventions and those of our key partners.

Working to agreed timescales and targets, your broad remit will include liaising closely with key partners to develop new ‘best practice products’ and identify potential clients. You will create demand for the service through networking and other awareness raising activities.

Ideal candidates will possess a relevant HND / degree and have a proven track record of personally leading continuous improvement initiatives in small to medium sized manufacturing business. A charismatic communicator and networker, you will have broad operational and production management experience and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the problems associated with running a small or medium sized manufacturing business. You will also enjoy working independently and within a team of highly motivated and enthusiastic like-minded individuals, creating innovative ways of transferring skills and facilitating creativity.

We are now looking to strengthen the network through the recruitment of Lean Practioners for all of the South West sub regions (Bristol, Glos, Wilts, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset)

Working closely with our established Manufacturing Specialists to agreed timescales and targets, your broad remit will include liaising closely with new and existing clients by providing advice and guidance on operational issues. You will be expected to create additional demand for the service through networking and other awareness raising activities.

Ideal candidates will possess the relevant degree or equivalent in Manufacturing Management and have a proven track record of personally leading continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives in world class manufacturing environments. A charismatic communicator and networker, you will have production management experience and be able to demonstrate strong analytical, diagnostic and planning skills. You will also enjoy working independently and within a team of highly motivated and enthusiastic like-minded individuals, creating innovative ways of transferring skills and facilitating creativity.
