Board Member

Nick is a founding member of SWMAS, and was one of the original architects of the service in the South West. He is an expert in the development and growth of small and medium sized businesses and has been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the Board since 2001.

Since April 2007, Nick has been a Director of Strategic Business Development at Business Link South West which provides information, advice and support to business start-ups, SMEs and growing businesses in the region. He conceived and led the merger of three existing businesses to win a new contract to deliver Business Link services from the South West Regional Development Agency.

Prior to this, in March 2001 Nick became the managing Director of Business Link Gloucestershire, having previously been Director of Operations, acting General Manager and Senior Business Adviser. During this time he consolidated its finances and personally oversaw the development of new services in the fields of IT, marketing, environment, manufacturing, retail, people development and agriculture.

Before Business Link, Nick spent 15 years in contracts and general management, working for small and medium-sized companies. In 1985 he was part of a team of three who organised the management buyout of Kinetics International, a specialist furniture manufacturing business, which grew from nine to 120 employees and a turnover of £5 million in just six years.

He has extensive experience of exporting to Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has also undertaken long term projects for Berkeley Homes, Gateway Food stores and Industrial Dynamics. In 1992 Nick was awarded an MBA from Henley Management College.

He has also held Directorships at the Regional Infrastructure for Social Enterprises, Chargrove Business Services, HERDA SW, Northern Arc Ltd and Knowledge West.
