Greg Taylor
Board Member
Greg brings to the SWMAS Board the benefit of over 40 years’ experience of working closely with the region’s businesses in both the private and public sectors. He joined the SWMAS Board in 2003 and is dedicated to enabling SWMAS to continue as the foremost and most innovative MAS in the country. Greg is well respected at national government level and represents the South West across a broad range of business support fora.
Greg joined Lloyds TSB Group in 1967 (known then as Lloyds Bank before acquiring TSB in 1995) now the largest UK Bank operating in the commercial and personal markets. Rising to become its North Somerset Branch Director, controlling twelve branches and 160 staff, Greg’s many roles included assisting in limiting commercial losses in recessionary times, increasing levels of customer service, driving sales, and people and change management.
In his time at Lloyds TSB, Greg acquired a sound understanding of the board level operations of SMEs, particularly manufacturing conmpanies, and the fundamentals of the commercial market place, acting as a mentor for a diverse range of businesses – from builders and farmers to deep sea photographers.
Leaving Lloyds TSB Group in 2000, Greg became a management consultant for Business Link in Somerset. Supporting business across Somerset, his role included reviewing business strategies and funding needs, recommending pragmatic solutions and negotiating with bankers.
Now Head of Business Support at SWRDA, the regional public sector body responsible for the development of a sustainable economy in South West England, and previously its Enterprise Programme Manager and Sector Development Manager, Greg brings a wealth of experience in supporting business to his role as SWMAS Board Member.
