Simon Howes

Business Development Director and Deputy Director

Simon Howes is a Cranfield University Manufacturing Management Fellow and Six Sigma Black Belt. He joined SWMAS as a strategic manufacturing specialist from Bioquell Medical where he was Operations Director.

Bioquell Medical is a leading supplier of equipment to control and contain chemical and biological hazards. As Operations Director, Simon was responsible for managing the supply chain to ensure customer satisfaction and provide profit for the business. This role enabled him to put his expertise in value stream mapping and lean manufacturing to good use.

Prior to this he completed the intensive Fellowship in Manufacturing Management at Cranfield University to update his “tool box” of management skills. The intensive programme consisted of both on-campus training plus a series of short projects in a variety of industrial host companies addressing real issues and providing detailed solutions.

Simon was previously Operations Director for Union Saudi Co, Saudi Arabia where he was directly responsible for all elements of manufacturing operations, from start-up to full operation at the largest independent manufacturer on nonwoven materials in the Middle East.

Before this Simon was Engineering Manager with BFF Nonwovens in Somerset.
