Nuclear New Build at Hinckley

The proposed construction of 2 new nuclear power units at Hinkley presents major opportunity
for suppliers in the region. Work has begun to develop a local supply chain database to support
the various work streams for this major constructions project. In terms of value the estimate is
that about 30% of the investment will be into the “nuclear island“ and the remaining 70% will be
for the associated civil engineering works. EDF, their key partners and suppliers as well as the
local agencies will be communicating the opportunities together with the quality and safety
requirements as the project details are decided. (The project is still in the planning consultation
phase)
